Nancy McCants Toole a long time Kitsap County resident passed away peacefully at Ashley Gardens in Bremerton, WA on March 13, 2019. Her funeral service will be held Saturday, March 23, 2019 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell parkway at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens.
Nancy was born February 22, 1927 in Darlington, SC to John Redmond and Gussie Essie (Anderson) King. She was a twin and one of 5 sisters. She left Conway, SC after graduation moving to Charleston, SC to work for Southern Bell Telephone retiring in the late 1980's as a Field Engineer.
She was married to Edward Walker McCants with whom they had two children, Brenda and Edward Jr. They made their home in Charleston, SC. She later married Max Toole and they lived in Atlanta, GA. Upon Max's death Nancy moved to the Pacific Northwest to be near her daughter. She made her home in Port Orchard and Bremerton, Washington.
Nancy was the epitome of the Southern Lady. Charming, gracious and always prepared to entertain. She never met a stranger and was welcoming to all in any setting. A true joy.
She is survived by her daughter Brenda Johnston of Port Orchard, son Edward McCants of Navarre, Fl, also three grandchildren, Allison Cornielle, Eddie McCants and Kenneth McCants and two Great Grandchildren, Erin Kelly Rice and Colin William Rice.
Mrs. Nancy will be laid to rest in Charleston, SC beside her twin Sister Betty Maxwell.
