Nancy was born May 12, 1931 in Bellville, Illinois, daughter of the late Ralph Charles Niemeyer
and Virginia Risser Niemeyer.
Nancy was a Renaissance woman with many passions. She loved animals and had many
special pets over the years. She was very active in Garden Cubs wherever they lived. She won
many blue ribbons for her arrangements. As a Member of the Junior League she was involved
in many community support projects, amongst her favorite were “Christmas Toys for Tots” and
"Museum goes to School”. Art was a passion for Nancy. She painted a very few beautiful
paintings, but was very accomplished at design, both for interiors and in fashion.
Nancy loved the outdoors and nature, a favorite memory of her children, was her nature walks
through the woods and over the creeks. She also loved boating and being on the water, having
grown up boating on the Mississippi with her family, on her their cabin cruiser, named “The
Nancy Lee”.
She was an avid Bridge player and with her favorite partner, Don Stone, they were often
unbeatable. Through the game of bridge, they met many wonderful, lifelong friends. Nancy
and Don loved to travel with family and friends and had many wonderful experiences abroad.
Nancy collected Elephants, wherever they traveled. Her collection is well known and admired
by many.
She will be remembered most, for the way she loved, shared, and enjoyed special times with
her family.
