Nancy Catherine Schmitt Foster

Nancy Catherine Schmitt Foster, 68, of Edisto Island, South Carolina, wife of Winthrop "Buzz" Foster, Jr., entered into eternal rest Thursday, October 22, 2015. Her Funeral Service will be held Friday, October 30, 2015 in Trinity Episcopal Church, 1589 Highway 174, Edisto Island at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the Churchyard. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway.

Nancy was born July 2, 1947 in Holyoke, Massachusetts, she was the daughter to the late Thomas and Catherine Centerbar Schmitt. She moved to Easthampton, Massachusetts at an early age and went through the public schools in Easthampton. She married Winthrop "Buzz" Foster, Jr., on November 27, 1965. They lived in Shutesbury, Mass for 25 years. Nancy was employed as a veterinary technician at Valley Veterinary Services of Hadley, MA. She served in many administrative capacities in the Amherst Hockey Association and was a member of the Amherst Golf Club, Amherst Massachusetts, and Franklin County Boat Club of Greenfield, Massachusetts. The family moved to Edisto Island, SC in 2001, where she became a member of the Edisto Island Yacht Club along with the Plantation Golf Course on Edisto Island. Nancy especially loved animals and was associated with ALOE (Animal lovers of Edisto) welcoming several rescue animals to her home.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 50 years, Winthrop "Buzz" Foster,Jr.; son, David W. Foster and his wife Kathy Mireault Foster, two grandchildren, Nicholas Edward and Christopher David Foster, sister, Sandra Snyder of Broad Brook, CT; two aunts along with several cousins, and nieces. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Tracie Ann Foster, and sister, Patricia Bessette.
