Nancy Elizabeth Bruce Pierce

Nancy Elizabeth Bruce Pierce passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Shem Creek Health Center at South Bay at Mt. Pleasant, SC. She was born in Johnson City, Tennessee on April 8, 1936 to the late Hershel Gerald Bruce and the late Mary Sue Bristol Bruce of Bristol, Tennessee.

Nancy was a 1959 graduate of East Tennessee State University where she majored in Math. She went on to work for and teach at the Medical College of Virginia. She married her college sweetheart Jerry in 1960, and began welcoming her four children. Her career included establishing and running Wee Folks Nursery School and Nancy’s Hallmark Stores in Richmond, Virginia, and becoming a successful Real Estate Agent in Concord/Charlotte, NC. She also tutored Math to kindergarteners and college students alike throughout her life.

Nancy enjoyed travelling together with Jerry and they visited countless countries, stepping onto each of the seven continents. She loved spending time at her Edisto Beach, SC house where she played golf, bridge, did many Sudoku puzzles, and rode her bicycle. She loved to cook and sew and loved Edisto shrimp!

Left to cherish Nancy’s memory is her beloved husband of 63 years Jerry; her children Laura (Larry), Joel, Paige (Eric) and Sarah; her sister Betty Donaldson of Jonesborough Tennessee; her grandchildren, Austin (Leslie), Kendall, Harrison, Turner (Maggie) and Brandon; great-grandchildren Theodore and Caleb; and many relatives and friends in Tennessee, Richmond, Concord and Edisto Island, SC. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers (Jerry, Bob and Jimmy) and sisters (Jeanne and JoAnn); and her grandsons Nathan and Dustin.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Trinity Church, 1589 SC-174, Edisto Island, SC on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. with interment afterwards.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Nancy’s honor to Trinity Church or The Alzheimer’s Association.
