Nancy Elizabeth McDonald Jervey, 88, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Louis Preston Jervey, Jr. M.D. entered into eternal rest Sunday, March 8, 2015. Her Funeral Service will be held Thursday, March 12, 2015 in Grace Episcopal Church, 98 Wentworth Street at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends and celebrate Nancy's joyful life later that day on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Carolina Yacht Club. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Downtown Chapel.

Nancy was born March 6, 1927 in Greenville, South Carolina, daughter of R.E. McDonald and Agnes Smith McDonald. She was a graduate of Erskine College and MUSC School of Allied Sciences.

A Greenville native, Nancy grew up spending weekends enjoying the mountains and beautiful wide open spaces and animals on her family's farm near Abbeville. However, when she moved to Charleston in 1950 and married the love of her life, Louis, she also fell in love with the Lowcountry lifestyle: lots of fishing, crabbing and boating while summering on Sullivans Island.

Nancy embraced life and made friends wherever she went. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, reading and other creative hobbies, and was a dedicated volunteer and held offices with such organizations as the Charleston Symphony Guild, MUSC Medical Auxiliary, the Elder Hostel, and Grace Episcopal Church where she was a member and taught kindergarten Sunday School for many years. Nancy was also a member of the Arian Society Auxiliary.

She is survived by her daughter, Anne Jervey Rhett of Charleston, SC; son, Louis Preston Jervey, III of Charleston, SC; granddaughter, Anne Jervey Rhett, and grandson, Francis Rutledge Rhett, both of Charleston, SC; sister-in-laws Ruth McDonald, of Greenville, and Frances McDonald, of Columbia; as well as many wonderful nieces, nephews, and cousins in both McDonald and Jervey families.

In addition to her parents; she was predeceased her brothers, Fred McDonald of Greenville, SC and Frank McDonald of Columbia, SC; and her son-in-law, Frank Rhett, Jr. The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff at Franke at Seaside as well as those at Mt. Pleasant Hospice for the tender, loving care they gave Nancy during the final chapters of her life.

Memorials may be made to Grace Episcopal Church, 98 Wentworth Street, Charleston, SC 29401 or to Franke at Seaside, Lutheran Homes of South Carolina Foundation, Inc., 300 Ministry Drive, Irmo, SC 29063.
