Myrtle Christine Williams, lovingly known to family and friends as a woman with a heart of gold, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 29, 2026, in Charleston, South Carolina, at the age of 92. She was surrounded by her loving daughters and son as she entered her eternal rest.

Born on January 2, 1934, in Charleston, South Carolina, Myrtle lived a life defined by kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family. She was loved and cherished by all who knew her and was known for her warm heart, gentle spirit, and ability to bring people together. To her family, she was the glue that held everyone together, offering strength, wisdom, and unconditional love throughout her life.

Myrtle dedicated 28 years of service to Midland Park Elementary School, where she touched countless lives through her hard work and caring nature. She took pride in serving her community and forming lasting relationships with those around her.

She shared a beautiful marriage of 51 years with her beloved husband, Dewey Carlton Williams. Though separated by death for a time, they are now reunited in Heaven.

Myrtle is survived by her sister Betty Causey, her daughter, Terri Shirrel and husband Robert Shirrel; grandchildren Robert Shirrel II, Kelly Bunch and husband Marty Bunch, and Jessi; daughter Laurie Alquzaa , son Kevin Williams; grandson Dewey Carlton Williams III and spouse Jocelyn; grandson Justin Williams and partner Seemone; granddaughter Amber Williams; and granddaughter Amy Straley and spouse Sean.

She also leaves behind her cherished great-grandchildren: Dewey IV, Zachary, Sadie, Ainsley, Naomi, Camden, Amaya, Makayla, Ethan, Remi, Waylon, Colt, Brody, Tucker, and Evie, and her beloved great-great-grandchild, Caspian.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Carlton Williams SR; her son, Dewey Carlton Williams II; and her son, Steven Ray Williams. Her parents Harvey M. White And Nettie W. White. Her sister Marguerite White , Edna Myers and her brother Harvey White.

Myrtle’s kindness, generosity, and loving presence will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched. Her legacy of love and compassion will continue to live on through the generations of family she so dearly cherished.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at J. Henry Stuhr Funeral Home, Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road, North Charleston, South Carolina.

Graveside services will follow at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Carolina Memorial Gardens, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, South Carolina 29406.

Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find comfort in knowing that Myrtle is at peace and reunited with those who went before her. Her love, laughter, and gentle spirit will remain in our hearts forever.
