Myrtle Baxley Rushton, 80, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of the late Nathan Rushton passed away at home on Friday, October 10, 2014. Her Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, October 13, 2014 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC. WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, October 12, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Myrtle was born November 3, 1933 in Barnwell County, South Carolina, daughter of the late Alfred Baxley and Beatrice Myrtle Baxley. She met the love of her life and married Nathan Rushton on June 7, 1953. From 1971 until 1992, Myrtle worked with her husband at Rushton's Electric Motor Service. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and most of all, spending time with her family, especially dancing at her grandchildren's weddings. Myrtle was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She always put her husband and children first.
She is survived by her children, Nathan (Tony) and Nita Rushton of Charleston, SC, Phillip and Theresa Rushton of Charleston, SC, and Sharon (Sherry) and Michael Murray of Matthews, NC; her grandchildren, Stephanie Harris, Thomas Murray, Mark Rushton, Christopher Murray, Laura Rushton, and Anna Murray; and her great-grandchildren, Dylan Pentland, Kailynn Pentland, Anna Louise Harris, and Thomas Nathan Murray, Jr. Myrtle is also survived by her brothers and sisters, William Baxley, Leonard Baxley, Alfred Baxley, Jr., Alvin Baxley, Patricia Leverette, and Dwight Baxley. She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Elbert Baxley, Virginia Beard, Bobby Baxley, and Barbara Nell.
Our family will miss the unconditional love and guidance mom so freely gave.
