Muryl Devonna Thomas Taylor Lane, 74, of Charleston, SC, wife of Freddie "Fred" Lee Lane, entered into eternal rest with her husband and daughters by her side, Saturday, April 20, 2013. Her memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2013, in Ashley River Baptist Church, 1101 Savannah Highway, at 1:00 pm. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends at the church Tuesday two hours prior to the service. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL.
Muryl was born October 14, 1938 in Lynchburg, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Clark W. Thomas and Lottie Carter Thomas. She was a member of Ashley River Baptist Church and cultivated a beautiful biblical garden on the grounds. Muryl was the consummate homemaker but equally loved buying and selling antiques, teaching kindergarten and Vacation Bible School. She especially valued her tenure at the Wentworth Mansion. Muryl was a generous volunteer, constantly putting others needs before her own. This world will not be the same without her.
She is survived by her husband of Charleston; two daughters, Devonna Taylor of Lake Norman, NC and Heather Taylor of Charleston; a son, Graham Taylor of Lexington, SC; three granddaughters; three brothers, Paul Thomas of Turberville, SC, Earl Thomas of Lake Wales, FL and David Thomas of Lexington, SC; and two sisters, Eva Mull of Florence, SC and Ina Minter of Columbia, SC. She was predeceased by a brother, James Thomas.
