Mrs. Melzena Clifton Hammonds

Mrs. Melzena Clifton Hammonds, 89, of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, widow of Bishop A.H. (Steve) Hammonds, passed away Saturday, October 14, 2023.

Melzena was born April 18, 1934 in Fletcher, Oklahoma, daughter of the late Jerry Walter  Clifton and Florence Reynolds Clifton. She graduated with honors from Choctow High School and Hills Business College. She was successful in business for 22 years, retiring as Assistant Advertising Manager of T.G.& Y. Stores Co.  Melzena was active for 20 years in ministry alongside her husband, Steve, serving as Teacher, Organist, and Ladies Auxiliary President.

She is survived by her daughters, Diana Elaine Bryden, of Sand Springs, OK, and Jana Marie Seaver of Summerville, SC;  Four grandchildren, Michael Jay Seaver, Gina Ponce Wilke, Kristi Marie Bryden, Kaylie Brook Bryden; eight great-grandchildren, Noah, Samuel, Abby, Chloe,  Molly, Lucy, Jack, and Ryan; and three great great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Copeland and Penelope. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 68 years, and her two grandsons, Eric Christopher Seaver and Bradley Alan Seaver.

A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, October 21, 2023 in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens, 1308 Mathis Ferry Road at 10:00 am.  . Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel.
