Entered into eternal rest on the morning of August 2, 2010, Monica Avant Luckie, wife of Stephen Keith Luckie. Residence, North Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Keith Luckie are invited to attend the funeral services of the latter, Friday, August 6, 2010 at three o'clock, in Grace Episcopal Church. Burial will be private. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, Thursday between five and seven o'clock.
Monica was born February 21, 1969 in Walterboro, SC, the daughter of Ted Avant and Janice Byrd Cooke. She attended Columbia College and The College of Charleston. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her boys, teaching them, and providing exceptional love and nourishment. She was an avid reader and through this love, she taught her boys the joy of discovery and the values of life. She also volunteered at Buist Academy and taught other young children the important values of honesty, gratitude, perseverance, compassion, loyalty, generosity and self worth. Some of her favorite books to share with her children and others were: The Secret of Saying Thanks', Franklin Fibs, The Very Quiet Cricket, Will and Squill, Stand Tall, and One Winters Day.
She is survived by her husband of Charleston, SC; her father and step-mother: Sara Avant of Walterboro, SC; Mother of Fairfax, SC; two sons: Garris Luckie and Fuller Luckie both of North Charleston, SC; one sister: Lisa B. Avant of Charleston, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Episcopal Church, 115 Wentworth Street, Charleston, SC 29401, or Epilepsy Service and Research, Inc., 125 Doughty St. Suite 460, Charleston, SC 29403.
