Miriam Cook Hicks, 81, of Summerville, South Carolina, widow of Howard Irving Hicks entered into eternal rest Sunday, November 11, 2012. A cryptside service will be held Friday, November 16, 2012 in the Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Road at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends in J. HENRY STUHR WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway Thursday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Miriam was born May 26, 1931 in Conway, South Carolina, daughter of Wade Sylvester Cook and Minnie Catherine Todd Cook Prine. She was a former employee of Bell South, Condon's Department Store and manager of One Hour Valet. Miriam was a Charter Member of Wando Woods Baptist Church.She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Helmey (Ronald) of Summerville; son, Stephen Howard Hicks (Georganne) of James Island; brother, Luther Lloyd Cook (Roberta) of Charleston; grandchildren, Ryan Taylor Helmey, Christian Alexandra Hicks, Ronald Keith Helmey (Chelle); and numerous nieces and nephews.Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 5900 Core Road, Suite 504, North Charleston, SC 29406.
