Miriam Kottleman Goer, 97, better known as “Mimi”, passed away peacefully Saturday morning January 20, 2024, at Kempton Nursing Home in Charleston SC.
Mimi was born June 27 1926 in Orlando Florida to Harry And Ruby Goldstein Kottleman. Mimi attended college at the University of South Carolina where she was majoring in Art when she met and married her husband of 65 years, Ernest Julius Goer. Mimi and Ernie spent most of their early to mid-life raising their family in Charleston and their later life spending most winters in Boca Raton FL.
Mimi was predeceased by her parents, her husband Ernest Goer, her son Randy Goer and her (3) siblings, Florence Kottleman Albert, Hindy Kottleman Wolly, and Buddy Kottleman.
Mimi enjoyed traveling the world with her husband Ernie, as well as spending time in her beloved Florida. She loved playing cards, as well as spending time with her (4) children, (9) grandchildren and (7) great grandchildren.
Mimi participated in many Jewish organizations including Emanuel Synagogue Sisterhood, Hadassah, Ort, and Charleston Jewish Federation, where she was a “Lion of Judah”.
Mimi and Ernie were a philanthropic couple donating to many organizations such as Charleston Community Foundation, College of Charleston Jewish Studies Building, Jewish Community Center Building Fund, Porter Gaud School, The Citadel, and Spoleto Festival USA.
Mimi is survived by her daughters Stacey Goer (Allan), Elissa Goer Ross (Jeff), her son Alan Goer (Wendy), and daughter-in-law Liz Goer.
Grandchildren include Jonathon Goldstein (Julia); Jeremy Goldstein; Joslin Goer; Kenzie Goer (Chelsea); Haydon Goer (Kelly); Nicole Goer; Ryan Goer; Max Ross (Hannah Jo); Hannah Caroline Ross; (7) great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank her many care givers and especially Jennifer Gethers, Victoria Seay, and the staff at Kempton and Hospice.
Funeral arrangement are by J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Downtown chapel with a graveside memorial service being held Wednesday, January 24, at 11:00am at Synagogue Emanuel Maryville cemetery at 60 Sycamore Avenue Charleston SC 29407.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to Chabad Center for Jewish Life or Synagogue Emanuel.
