Minnie Mazo Meislin

July 12, 1913 — February 17, 2012

Entered into eternal rest on the morning of February 17, 2012, Minnie Mazo Meislin, widow of Bennett Meislin. The relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral services Sunday, February 19, 2012 at 1:00 PM at the graveside in Emanu-El Cemetery, "Maryville".

Mrs. Meislin was born July 12, 1913 in Charleston, SC, the daughter of Elihu Mazo and Anastacia Tandet Mazo. She retired after 50 years as the owner of Bennett Realty Company and was a member of Synagogue Emanu-El.

She was one of the venerable eight "Mazo Girls" and two "Mazo Boys" of King Street. The family grew up living upstairs over their parent's- Elihu and "Essie's"- landmark Mazo's Grocery.

She is survived by one daughter: Susan Ellen Smith and her husband Dr. Bruce Smith of Houston, TX; one son: Owen G. Meislin of Charleston, SC; one sister: Celie M. Weisman of Brooklyn, NY; four grandchildren: Bennett, Meredith, Eric, and Natalie; one great grandchild, Mason Sulek.

Memorials may be made to Synagogue Emanu-El, 5 Windsor Drive, Charleston, SC 29407.
