Millicent "Millie" Sue McConnell Moore

Millicent Sue “Millie” McConnell Moore, 81, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of Dr. Terence Neal Moore, entered into eternal rest on November 7, 2023. A Requiem Mass will be held Saturday, November 11, 2023 in the Church of the Holy Communion, 218 Ashley Avenue at 10:00 am. Internment following will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday, November 10th in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Millie was born August 25, 1942 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Samuel W. McConnell and Evelyn McDaniel McConnell. Millie was a graduate of St. Paul’s High School in Hollywood, SC and a College of Charleston graduate and a former board member of the C of C Alumni Association. She was the former president of the Lancaster City and County Medical Auxiliary in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She was also a former member of the James Buchanan Foundation, the South Carolina Medical Auxiliary, the Chi Omega Sorority, and a member of the Church of the Holy Communion in Charleston, SC.  


Millie was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Diane Lynn McConnell. 
 
In addition to her husband of 58 years, Millie is survived by her daughters, Jeanne Moore Duross (Charles) of Falls Church, VA, Talitha Moore Martin (Charles) of Boiling Springs, PA, and Ashley Elizabeth Moore (Meghan Riley) of Charleston, SC; her brothers, Samuel W. McConnell, Jr. and the Honorable Glenn F. McConnell, both of Charleston, SC; her sisters, Debra Jeanne McConnell and Connie McConnell Blackmon (Barry), both of Bonneau Beach, SC; and her grandchildren, Evelyn Duross, Charles "Mac" Duross, Madison Martin, and Ainslee Martin.  


Millie loved nothing more than being with her family (especially her grandchildren) and friends and playing bridge and card games of all kinds.  She had a wonderful sense of humor and the warmest laugh.  With Terry, Millie was a world traveler, having visited all seven continents.  But, Charleston was her favorite place of all.
