Millicent Thorne Keough passed away on August 31, 2018, in Columbia, South Carolina. Millicent was born in Houlton, Maine on October 23, 1926. She was predeceased by her husband, Cmdr. Raymond Francis Keough, USN, her parents, Millard Bradford Thorne and Ethel Grace Gibson Thorne, her brother, Donald Bradford Thorne and sister, Frances Nadine Thorne.

Millie graduated from Deering High School in Portland, Maine. She was an alumni and life-long supporter of Westbrook Junior College (The University of New England). Her professional career included office manager of The Social Security Office Board of Hearing and Appeals in Miami, Florida.

She traveled extensively as the wife of a Naval Officer. After retiring she developed a love for cruising and spent much of her time exploring the world, leaving only one continent unvisited (Antarctica).

She enjoyed her heritage societies. She was a member of The Eliza Lucas Pinckney Chapter, NSDAR, South Carolina Society Descendants of the Mayflower, The U.S. Daughters of 1812, Colonial Dames of the XVII Century, and Daughters of American Colonists. Genealogical research proved to be a wonderful and interesting hobby for her.

Millicent leaves behind her daughters Karen Keough McCay (Gordon) of Chapin, SC and Kimberly Keough Dierks (John) of Manhattan, Kansas and her son Kevin Bradford Keough (Mary-Ruth) of Aubrey, Texas. Her beloved grandchildren are Amy Kathleen McCay Polk, (Kevin) of Columbia, SC, Gordon Michael McCay (Martha) of Fort Mill, SC, and Kate Ann Keough of Aubrey,Texas. Great grandchildren are Tyler McCay Polk, Seabrook Lange Polk, James Hudson McCay and Colton Lee McCay. Services and burial will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or The Salvation Army.
