Mildred Brenda Garvin passed away peacefully on Sunday Morning, March 3, 2024 in the comfort of her home and in the presence of her daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. The care afforded her was out of love, compassion, genuine affection and constant attention through and during the last chapter of her life. She was a loving daughter, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She was born Dec. 6, 1942 in Aiken, SC to the late Pauline D. Moyer and Hayward Moyer, Jr. and was also predeceased by 2 brothers, Laverne and Hayward Moyer. Ms. Garvin accepted the Lord in the early years of her life and exemplified those teachings through love and care for her family and friends. The care of her family was first and foremost to her. The home she provided was first priority and making sure each family member’s needs were met was her personal requirements each day. The world is truly a better place because life and her life was truly a life well lived.
Her legacies will be carried on through the lives of her family: her daughter, Becky L. Fields, (Roger) of Norfolk, VA; her son, Marty L. Garvin (Becky) of Graniteville, SC: 3 grandchildren, Brittany Quidgeon (Danny), Aaron Tumbleston (Shelby), and Mark Garvin; 9 great grandchildren, Marcus, Sammy, Aimee, MacKenzie, Alexis, Paisley, Lucas, Parker, and Everleigh; and a brother, Larry Moyer, of Gloverville, SC.
Oman Funeral Home and Crematory, 653 Cedar Rd., Chesapeake, VA is serving Ms. Garvin’s family locally and will be transferring her to The J. Henry Stuhr Funeral Home Downtown Chapel, 232 Calhoun St., Charleston, SC 29401. The family will receive friends on Saturday March 9, 2024 at 11:00 AM at The Church Of God Of Prophecy, 2921 Maybank Highway, St. John’s Island, SC. The Celebration of her life will be at 12 Noon in the Sanctuary of the church. Rev. Michael Droze will officiate. Friends are invited to join the family for the Interment at 2:00 PM in Carolina Memorial Park, 7113 Rivers Ave., Charleston, SC 29406.
