Mildred Hollis Garris

Entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 1, 2012, Mildred Hollis Garris, 90, wife of the late Clarence E. Garris of Charleston. The relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Friday, February 3, 2012 at 10:00 am in Ashley River Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 2, 2012 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway.

Mildred was born on October 11, 1921 in Newberry, SC. She was a homemaker and was dearly loved by her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corp Legacy.

Survivors include three sons; Hollis Garris (Ann), Larry Garris (Ginny), and Wendell Garris (Kaye) all of Charleston; one daughter, Caroline G. Bookter (Phil) of Columbia, SC; one sister May Robinson of Charleston; Six grandchildren, Heather Pope (Ed), Kendell Garris, Christopher Bookter, Matthew Bookter, Cade Garris and Joshua Garris.

Memorials may be made to The American Heart Association, 409 King Street, Suite 300, Charleston, SC 29403, or to the charity of one's choice. The family would like to acknowledge the kindness and love shown by her caregivers; Felicia, Wilhelmina, Celeste, Bev and Catherine.
