Entered into eternal rest on January 4, 2011, Gladys "Mickey" Purdin Thomerson-Doulgeris, wife of Gus Doulgeris of Hanahan, SC. The relatives and friends of Mr. & Mrs. Gus Doulgeris are invited to attend her funeral service in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, Thursday, January 6, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. Entombment, Carolina Memorial Park Mausoleum. Friends may call at Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel on Thursday between 11:00 a.m. and the time of the service.
Mickey was born on September 10, 1929 in Greenfield, OH a daughter of Burch Purdin and Ida Mae Setty Purdin. In addition to being a loving wife and mother, she devoted her time coaching sports for the Hanahan Recreational Center for many years. She will continue to be fondly remembered in the years to come for all the many lives she has touched over the years.
She is survived by her husband, Gus Doulgeris of Hanahan, SC; children: James Thomerson, Jr., of Jacksonville, FL, Kathy Thomerson of The Kingdom of Bahrain, Debbie Thomerson of Naples, Italy, John Thomerson and his wife Vicki of Goose Creek, SC, Karen Harrington and her husband Pat of Hanahan, SC and Pam Hightower and her husband Jimmy of Charleston, SC; grandchildren: Dr. Gem Thomerson, Merideth Thomerson-Kolaski, Jason Hightower, Justin Hightower, Sara Elizabeth Hightower, Mary Thomerson-Burns and Brittney Harrington; one great-grandchild, Jesse Thomerson; brother, Paul Purdin; sister, Patty Fulmer both of Greenfield, OH; niece, Brenda Geist and her husband Gary; and nephew, Ben Styers and his wife Pat. Mickey was preceded in death by her first husband, James Thomerson, Sr.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Crippled Children's Hospital, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605-4277.
