Michael Church Shokes

Michael Church Shokes, 72, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Friday, November 8, 2024, surrounded by family.

He was born January 3, 1952 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Kenneth Allen Shokes and Ada Cook Shokes. In 1975, he married the love of his life and best friend, Judy Truluck Shokes.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Michele (Zach) Willard, Kayla Shokes; sister, Susan (Ray) Barnwell of Florence, SC; and grandchildren, Michael and Anslee Willard. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Mike retired from AT&T after 45 years of service. In addition, he enjoyed spending time gardening, being outdoors as well as spending time with his family, especially the time he spent with his grandchildren.

The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the providers, nurses, and medical staff who provided care and support during his illness. Your dedication, compassion, and expertise were a great comfort to him and the family during this difficult time. We are forever grateful for the care you gave and for your commitment to his well-being.

The family will receive friends Wednesday one hour prior to the service. His Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, November 13, 2024 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens.
