Michael Leroy Robinson, Sr.

Michael Leroy Robinson, Sr., 70, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of LaVerne Vanderhorst Robinson, entered into eternal rest Thursday, June 5, 2025.

Michael was born October 5, 1954, in Charleston, South Carolina, the son of the late Thomas Leroy Robinson and Katherine Singleton Robinson.

Michael was married 47 years to the former LaVerne Vanderhorst. Their union was blessed with a son, Michael Leroy Robinson, Jr.

Michael attended the public schools of Charleston County, graduating from Burke High School in 1974. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served honorably for 34 years. Throughout the years Michael held employment with the City of Charleston, South Carolina Department of Transportation, and the North Charleston Coliseum. In his spare time, he loved to go fishing and watching western television shows.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, siblings, Thomas Robinson, Patrycya R. (Melvin) Rouse, Bridgette Robinson, Robert Singleton, Vincent Robinson, Mark Robinson and Terry Robinson; in-laws, Robert Trapier, William Vanderhorst, Henry Vanderhorst, Annette Vanderhorst, Lonnie Vanderhorst, Zelpha Vanderhorst, Brenda (Donald) Robinson, Sherald Odum-Hutchinson, Debra Moore, Ronald Eugene Bligen, Felicia Vanderhorst, Margaret Greene Kinloch, and Joanne Vanderhorst; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Joyce Robinson-Scott and Mamie T. Bligen.

His Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 14, 2025 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 11:00 am. A Graveside Service with Army Honors will be held Monday, June 16, 2025 at Beaufort National Cemetery, at 2:00 pm.
