Entered into eternal rest on the morning of October 9, 2011, Michael Randolph (Randy) Prater, 69, husband of Elaine Gibson Prater. Residence, Charleston, SC. The family will receive friends at J. HENRY STUHR, INC. WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, this Tuesday morning, October 11, 2011 at 10 am.
Born on January 19, 1942 in Seneca, SC, Randy was the son of the late E. H. Prater, Sr. and Guynell Whitfield Prater. Following his career as Vice-President of Logistics for Coats and Clark, Inc. Textile Division he ended his career with Oneita Industries in Charleston, SC. After his retirement he fulfilled his lifetime passion for cooking as a personal chef on Kiawah Island. He graduated from Riverside Military Academy of Gainesville, GA, received a Bachelor degree in Textile Chemistry from Clemson University, and graduated from The University of Virginia Executive Darden School of Business in Charlottesville, Virginia. Randy was also a U.S. Army Veteran.
Surviving are his loving wife Elaine of Charleston; two sons, Michael Ashley Prater of Hilton Head, SC and Matthew Gibson Prater of Flowery Branch, GA; a daughter, Kelly Prater Dill, of Ball Ground, GA; and three grandchildren, Drew Dill, Zach Dill, and Cole Prater.
His remains will be inurned at Beaufort National Cemetery. Memorials may be made in his honor to a charity of one's choice.
