Michael (Mike) Portaro, 89, of Goose Creek SC, widower of Chelma Portaro passed away peacefully after a long illness.

His Service will be held Saturday April 11, 2026 at J Henry Stuhr, Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Rd North Charleston at 11am.

Mike was born April 27, 1936 in New York City, son of the late Thomas G Portaro and the late Angelina Pagano Portaro. He was owner and operator of Tom Portaro's Italian Restaurant, SC. He was also a State Constable and New York City police officer.

He is survived by his step son, Rick Lee, of Sedona AZ, two nephews, Steven (Laura) Portaro of Lagrangeville, NY and Thomas (Krister) Portaro of Atlanta GA, many loved cousins, nieces and nephews, brother and sister in law Billy and Caroline Mclean.

He was predeceased by his wife Chelma, his parents Thomas and Angelina and brother Sal.
