Michael Patrick Murphy

Michael Patrick Murphy, 71, of Charleston, South Carolina, widower of Sylvia Ann Murphy entered into eternal rest Tuesday, March 12, 2019. His graveside service will be held Friday, March 15, 2019 at Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Fort Johnson Road at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel, 232 Calhoun Street.

Michael was born July 20, 1947 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late William H. Murphy and Mary Droze Murphy. He graduated from James Island High School and earned an Associates Degree from Palmer College. Michael was a water regulatory manager for DHEC, a member of American Legion Post #147 and the Church of The Nativity Catholic Church. He had a giving spirit and was very charitable to multiple foundations.

He is survived by his sister, Linda D. Frederick (Stephen) of Charleston, SC; three nieces; five nephews; and twelve great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother, Richard Thomas Murphy.
