Michael David Bush 1942-2016
Stories of my passing have not been exaggerated, this time. I left Edisto on December 4, 2016.The above was written by our father, Mike Bush, before he left Edisto one final time. It is not surprising to learn that he took care to attend to even the smallest of details... like writing his own obituary. His need to not trouble others, but instead to do for them, was part of what made him so special. If you knew our dad, you would also know he never really liked to leave Edisto. We choose to believe, if you look you will see him in his t-shirt, khakis and crocs. You will feel him with the tug of a fish on a line. You will hear him in the call of the marsh. You will spend time with him when you share a love of fishing with someone.
He is survived by his loving and patient wife, Linda; his three children, Lee Wingfield (Cally), Shand Josey (Rainey), Catherine Dremann (Rich); nine grandchildren, Jackson, Ann Collins, Sarah, Wilson, Lane, ELee, Eva, Verity, and his namesake Michael, and his two brothers, Kenny and Greg Bush. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Edward and Frances.
His Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, December 7, 2016 in The Presbyterian Church on Edisto Island, 2164 Hwy 174, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Churchyard. A reception will be held in the Fellowship Hall following the service. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, Charleston, SC.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Presbyterian Church on Edisto, 2164 Hwy. 174, Edisto Island, SC 29438 or KKBE Rabbi Alexander Discretionary Fund, 90 Hasell Street, Charleston, SC 29407 or a charity of one's choice.
