Merle Arnold Clark, 72, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of Captain Arthur Doron Clark USN Ret., died Sunday, January 12, 2014. The relatives and friends of Merle Clark are invited to attend her Funeral Service on Monday, January 20, 2014 in All Saints Lutheran Church at 3:00 pm. Interment will be Sunday, February 2, 2014 at the columbarium at All Saints Lutheran Church at 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday, January 20, 2014 from 2:00 pm until time of the service. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.
Merle was born September 23, 1941 in Easton, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Onita Roberts Arnold. She graduated from Olney High School and attended Temple university for two years majoring in Latin. Merle supported her husband throughout his naval career and she retired as the director of the Navy Relief Society in Philadelphia. Merle received the highest commendation, the Meritorious Service Award, for her 20 years of volunteer work. She was a homemaker and loved to spend time with her family and friends and was also a member of All Saints Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband, Arthur Doron Clark of Mt. Pleasant, SC; two sons, Gregory Arthur William Clark and his wife, Carla Rachelle Clark and Jeffrey Bruce Arnold Clark and his wife, Lisa Arms Clark; grandson, Matthew Aaron Clark; granddaughter, Julia Elise Clark all of Mount Pleasant, SC; brother, Bruce Arnold; and two sisters, Norma Arnold and June Scheurle and her husband Robert Scheurle.
