Merle Lurene Blitch, 65, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of Michael Robert Lawson, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, July 10, 2024. Her Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, July 17, 2024 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 11:00 am. Burial to immediately follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel. 

Merle was born March 30, 1959 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Robert English Blitch Sr. and the late Bessie Mae Lewis Blitch. Merle graduated from St. Andrews High School and attended Trident Technical College. She was previously employed by MUSC as a Medical Office Assistant. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. Merle loved her swimming pool, unfortunately she had not been able to use it for a while after she broke her ankle.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Matthew Kleinman of Charleston; brother, Robert Blitch; sister, Linda St. Marie; grandchildren, Shelby Durham and Roderick 'Rory' Hull; as well as her favorite doggie and constant companion, Chico.

She was preceded in death by her nephew, Timothy St. Marie.
