Melvin A. Robinson, 92, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Friday, December 28, 2018. His graveside service will be held Sunday, December 30, 2018, in Brith Sholom Beth Israel Cemetery (Maryville), Sycamore Avenue, at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow at Brith Sholom Beth Israel Chapel, 182 Rutledge Avenue, until 5:00 p.m. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.
Melvin was born December 4, 1926, the son of Mitchel Robinson and Eva Dora Karesh Robinson. He lived his entire life in Charleston. For more than a half-century, he was a key member of the team who conducted the family's business, Robinson's Bicycle Store. Many, many low country people bought their first bikes from Melvin.
Melvin was a pillar of the synagogue, Brith Sholom Beth Israel (BSBI); he was a lifetime member. He was also a pillar of his family, the youngest of four Robinson brothers - Rudolph, Klyde, Irving, and Melvin - and a loving uncle, grand-uncle, and great-grand-uncle.
The family is grateful to Roper Hospice and the kind caregivers who helped Melvin.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Brith Sholom Beth Israel Synagogue, 182 Rutledge Avenue, Charleston, SC 29403.
