Melvin Otto Lamb, Sr., 92, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, passed away at home, Tuesday, November 1, 2016. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Mary Elizabeth Wirth Lamb. They were married for 65 years. His Funeral Service will be held Monday, November 7, 2016 in the First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant, 681 McCants Drive at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL on Sunday, November 6, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Melvin was born January 29, 1924 in Snowden, South Carolina, son of the late Louis Duncan Lamb and the late Mary Ethyl Warren Lamb. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and worked as a machinist at the Charleston Naval Shipyard.
He is survived by three daughters, Rosemary Lamb-Burnett of Mount Pleasant, SC, Carolyn L. Goodman of Ft. Walton, FL, and Beth Ann Lamb of Clinton, UT; four sons, Melvin O. Lamb, Jr., Roger L. Lamb, Sr., Jeffrey W. Lamb and Mark E. Lamb, Sr. all of Mount Pleasant, SC, as well as twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
