Melvin "Doc" Valentine, Jr., 73, of Walterboro, South Carolina, husband of the late Reba Kay Valentine, died peacefully Saturday, May 6, 2017. A Celebration of His Life will be held Thursday, May 11, 2017 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Rd. at 11:00 a.m.

Doc was born July 31, 1943 in Charleston, SC, son of the late Melvin Valentine and the late Gladys Brown Valentine. He served in the US Coast Guard and in civil service.

He is survived by two sons, M.C. Valentine III of Walterboro, SC and Tony Valentine of Ruffin, SC; his granddaughter, Nicole Valentine; great-grandchildren, Kaylin and Charlotte; and his sister Joyce Morris and her husband Glenn of Fayetteville, NC.

In addition to his wife, Reba, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Joyner.
