Melanie Cassou Vial

Melanie Cassou Vial, 95, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of the late Lester Joseph Vial, died Thursday, April 9, 2015. Funeral Services were held Friday, April 17, 2015 in Saint Angela Merici Catholic Church, Metairie, LA. Interment followed in Our Lady of the Rosary Cemetery, Taft, LA. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.

Melanie was born December 2, 1919 in New Orleans, Louisiana, daughter of the late Henry Cassou and the late Kate Phillippi Cassou. She received a Bachelors Degree from Loyola University School of Pharmacy; was a member of Saint Raphael the Archangel and later Saint Angela Merici Catholic Church; and was a homemaker who devoted many hours to school and church activities and as a hospital volunteer.

She is survived by two sons, Dr. Lester J. Vial, Jr., and his partner David, of Dallas, TX, and Dr. Wayne C. Vial and his wife, Paula, of Mount Pleasant, SC; one brother, Sylvester Cassou of Lacomb, LA; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Vial of Metairie, LA; former daughter-in-law, Catherine C. Vial, of Metairie, LA; six grandchildren, Dr. Stacey V. Hartline and her husband, Devlin; Stephanie Vial; Emily V. Fitzpatrick and her husband, Robert; Charles Vial and his wife, Dominique; Katherine Vial; and Christopher Vial; and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a son, Dr. Richard H. Vial and a brother, Deacon Henry A. Cassou, Jr.
