Megan Aila
Gabriel
December 9, 1974 – April 24, 2026
The fierce and magical Megan Gabriel born December 9th, 1974 in Kentucky was raised in Upstate New York and ultimately left us all too soon on April 24th, 2026, in Charleston , SC. It's comforting that Megan is now united with her dearly missed Mother, Lynn Gabriel, Roxy, Wrigley and Ivy. She is survived by her father Frank, her brother David and his wife Karol, and her nephews Jace and Ethan.
She was a loving mother to Rizzo and Jovie. Megan also left behind a family that will deeply miss her unconditional love and blunt honest words of wisdom that includes but not limited to Naked, Meg, Simone, Little Julie, Kristine, Mae Nöel, Bonkey, Matese, Laurie, Allie, Malik, Titty, Owen and so many more.
Megan's presence was simply a force. She will be remembered as a true rugby legend, building the foundation of Southern Women's rugby: usually with her sidekick Felicia in tow. The way she advocated for women's sports or the way she had a costume for any occasion will truly be missed. She was the woman who took "with you" to heart, always having her heart invested with all the real-life problems and all the fun adventures, she was "with you" for it all.
Megan graduated from SUNY Geneseo and St Rose College ,studying Speech Language Pathology. As a Speech Language Pathologist she was a hero to the kids she worked with. She valued her position to help the communication needs of so many children, respecting their own goals and personalities.
Join us on Folly Beach on Sunday May 3rd, 2026 for a celebration of life.
The hole she left on this Earth is simply ginormous. A thousand more years with her would have never been enough, so in our hearts and stories she will live forever
In lieu of flowers, hug your loved ones, travel to all the best places, live life to the fullest, and support your local rugby team.
