MCPO Thomas Dillon Hughes, Jr. USN (Ret.)

MCPO Thomas Dillon Hughes, Jr. USN (Ret.), 83, of Daniel Island, South Carolina, husband of Beverly Hay Hughes entered into eternal rest Wednesday, May 1, 2024. His private graveside service will be held in Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel.

Thomas was born December 19, 1940 in El Dorado, Arkansas, son of the late Thomas Dillon Hughes, Sr. (Billie Faye) and the late Emily June Purvis Hughes. After proudly serving in the United States Navy, and retiring as Master Chief Petty Officer, Thomas worked with military contractors as a combat systems engineer. He owned and operated Paradise Computer Store in Mt. Pleasant, and retired as a computer teacher for First Baptist, Mount Pleasant where he was also a member. As accomplished as he was, Thomas will be remembered most for the way he loved his family.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Beverly Hay Hughes of Daniel Island, SC; three children, Davison H. Hughes (Glenda) of Williamston, SC, Liesl Hughes Westbrook (Edward) of Mount Pleasant, SC, and Melissa Tiller (Josh) of Bluffton, SC; five grandchildren, Edward Thomas Westbrook, Michael Thomas Westbrook, Amber Wilson (Brandon), Sarah Tiller, Kate Tiller; four great grandchildren, Madi Wilson, Gray Wilson, Mason Loftis, Ava Loftis; and four brothers, James Best (Celia), John Best (Azalea), Joe Hughes and Harrison Hughes. He was preceded in death by granddaughter, Katherine Adele "Kat" Westbrook,  and sister, Lulinda Jennings.
