Maxime "Max" Joseph Tassin, 93, of Charleston, SC, widower of Mae Martin Tassin, entered into eternal rest Friday, April 26, 2013. His graveside services will be held Tuesday, April 30, 2013, in Saint James Churchyard, 1872 Camp Road, James Island, at 2 pm. The family will receive friends in Saint James Ministry Center following the service. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL.
Max was born February 19, 1920 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Maxime Joseph Tassin, Sr. and Adelaide Virginia Bee Tassin, and stepson of John Henry Wan Delken. He was a graduate of the High School of Charleston and a member of Saint James Church. He proudly served in the Pacific Theater during World War II as a machinist mate first class aboard the USS Diomedes. He served an apprenticeship at the Charleston Naval Shipyard where he worked for 10 years. Max was the retired owner and co-founder of Tassin and Tassin Machine Shop.
He is survived by his daughter, Lauralyn T. Page (Michael) and son, Kenneth Martin Tassin (Nancy), both of Charleston: grandchildren, Richard Stockton Tassin, Jr., Kenneth Martin Tassin, II, Ross Harrington Chapman, Jacqueline Tassin and Joseph Tassin. He was predeceased by his wife and son, Richard Stockton Tassin.
