Maxey Lee Lybrand, Jr., 88, of Charleston, South Carolina, widower of Eunice Byrd Lybrand died Sunday, July 5, 2015. His graveside service will be held Thursday, July 9, 2015 in the Celestial Memorial Gardens, 3111 Delree Street, West Columbia, SC at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel, Charleston, SC.
Maxey was born May 24, 1927 in Augusta, Georgia, son of the late Maxey Lee Lybrand, Sr. and the late Cynthia Burton Lybrand Terry. Maxey served in the United States Navy and was aboard the USS Midway and the USS Norton Sound AV 11. He was a Transport Operator with Exxon for 31 years and a member of the Million Mile Safe Driving Club. Maxey was a Mason and belonged to the Sinclair Lodge #154, A.F.M., West Columbia, SC.
He is survived by two daughters: Patricia L. Iler (Marty) of Charleston, SC and Cynthia L. Tyner (Donald) of Charleston, SC; son, Michael L. Lybrand (Donna) of Jamestown, SC; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
