Max Eugene Grubb

Max Eugene Grubb, 92, passed away on February 6, 2023 in Charleston, South Carolina. Born in Martinsburg, West Virginia on August 13, 1930, he was the son of Charles Grubb and Margaret (Barr) Grubb, both deceased.  Max graduated from Martinsburg High School and Shepherd University. After graduating from college, he served in the U.S. Army. 

He is survived by his daughter, Shelly Arnold (Steve), grandsons Drew Arnold (Anna) and Jordan Arnold, and great granddaughter, Ellie Arnold.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Portia (Tederick) Grubb and his brothers, William Grubb, Kenneth Grubb, Robert Grubb, and Donald Grubb.

Max was retired from Corning Glass Works. He was a lifelong and active member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church and a Past Master with the Masonic Lodge. He was a past member of the Jaycees, Elks, and Civitan.

A memorial service for Max and his wife, Portia, will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg with Pastor John Yost officiating. Visitation will be at 2:00 pm and the service will begin at 3:00 pm.
