Max Garfinkel, 97, of Charleston, SC, widower of Jennie Kaufman Garfinkel, entered into eternal rest Sunday, December 22, 2013. His graveside service will be held Monday, December 23, 2013, in Brith Sholom Beth Israel Cemetery "Maryville", Sycamore Avenue, at 3:00 pm. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL.
Mr. Garfinkel was born January 11, 1916 in Baltimore, Maryland, a son of the late Hyman Garfinkel and the late Molly Blacher Garfinkel. He was the retired owner of Garfinkel and Company. He was an active member of Brith Sholom Beth Israel Synagogue, B'nai Brith, a life member of Charleston Elks Lodge #242 and a life member of Mariner Lodge #2, A.F.M.
He is survived by his two sons: Howard B. Garfinkel (Sandra) and Paul W. Garfinkel (Susan), all of Charleston; seven grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren.
