Maureen Rose Pearce, 80, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of Colonel Maurice Cody Pearce entered into eternal rest Thursday, March 2, 2017. Her Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, March 14, 2017 in The Church of The Holy Cross, 2522 Middle Street, Sullivan's Island at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.
Maureen was born December 1, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of the late Bert O'Mealey and the late Jessie Allen O'Mealey. She was a Retired Paralegal with the U.S. Supreme Court, the Former Editor of The Assoc. of Reporters of Judicial Decisions and a published writer for magazines and newspapers. She passed on her love of reading to her family and her gift as an accomplished cook to her granddaughter. Maureen was also an active supporter of The Church of The Holy Cross.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Maurice; her daughter, Valerie Anne Zuidema-Pearce of Mt. Pleasant, SC; her sister, Colleen Arnold (Jeff) of Orlando, FL; her brother, Patrick O'Mealey (Annita) of Monroe, OR; four grandchildren: Danielle Maureen Zuidema, Loren Eric Zuidema, Ryan Zuidema and Jesse Zuidema; and a great-granddaughter, Riley Marie Zuidema.
Maureen was predeceased by her son, Eric Ranson Pearce.
