Maude Smith Wilson, 99, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Fred Ervin Wilson entered into eternal rest Tuesday, September 5, 2017. Her Funeral Service will be held Saturday, September 9, 2017 in Bethany United Methodist Church of James Island, 1853 Maybank Hwy. at 10:00 a.m. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Maude was born September 17, 1917 in Kingstree, South Carolina, daughter of the late Joseph Benjamin Smith and Mary Boyd Smith. She was a charter member of Bethany United Methodist Church on James Island, SC and a member of the Kings Daughters. Maude was a founding member of the Lawton Bluff Garden Club and an Avon saleslady for many years. She enjoyed knitting, gardening and flower arranging.
Maude is survived by her three children, Frank Wilson of Walterboro, SC, Fred E. Wilson, Jr. (Kathleen) of Charleston, SC, and Mary Jo Wilson VanTine (George) of Charleston, SC; six grandchildren: Hugh Wilson (Kim), Marie Wilson, Christine Wilson, Robbie Wilson, Rob VanTine, Aimee Kourafas (Nick); and two great-grandchildren: Sophia Wilson and Catherine Kourafas. She was predeceased by three sisters and two brothers.
