Maude Cone Murfin, 100, of Clearwater, Florida, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, July 11, 2024. Her funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 16, 2024 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel at 11:00 am, and the family will receive friends beginning one hour prior. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens.

Maude was born February 2, 1924, daughter of the late Douglas Cone and Maude Susan Fowler Cone. Prior to moving to Florida, Maude was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina. She was an accomplished singer and chose to use her gift of singing in the church, first at Citadel Square Baptist Church and later at Ashley River Baptist Church. She also volunteered for many organizations including the Ronald McDonald House and Meals on Wheels. Maude loved her family and loved to travel to visit family. During her working life, she worked her way up at the Southern Bell Telephone Company from which she retired. 

She is survived by her daughter, Liz Murfin (Lori Bernier) of Clearwater, FL; son, Charles Murfin, Jr. of Sarasota, FL; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Maude was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Alfred Murfin, Sr.; brothers, Douglas and Wilson Cone; and sister, Martha Burton.
