Master Chief Dillard E. Rogers, Jr. "Rog" (USN, Retired) of Waukegan, IL passed away on January 31, 2016 in Charleston, South Carolina.
Rog was born in Lynch, KY on March 23, 1940 to Mattie and Dillard Rogers, Sr. He spent his primary years in Knoxville, TN and his high school years in Pensacola, FL. After graduating from Pensacola High School, his travel began in earnest when he joined the US Navy, where he spent 23 years as an Electrician and a Gas Turbine Engineer, where he achieved the rank, and retired as a Master Chief. He traveled the world and truly embraced the many places he saw and lived.

After retiring from the Navy in 1983, he moved to Seattle, WA and worked for Lockheed for two years. In 1985, he settled in Waukegan where he spent 25 years teaching for several schools at Great Lakes Naval Training Center, retiring as Course Supervisor for Florida State College of Jacksonville.
He lived life with a passion for golf, football, tinkering, and politics; but his primary passion was for his family. He was known for his generosity, his strong opinions, and his white knuckle driving.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy Worklan Rogers; his children, Brian Rogers, Heather Cong (Mike), Lisa Burns (Jim), Jennifer Sampson (Brian) and Jack Maxwell; as well as his adored grandchildren, Eli and Jackson Cong, Tana Maxwell, Lola and Luke Sheeran, and Rocco Sampson. Also surviving him are his sister, Phyllis Hart, and his brothers, Mike and Steve Rogers and too many nieces and nephews to mention. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Wayne and Don, and his son, Shaun Michael.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 4, 2016 at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, at 11:00 a.m. A memorial celebration of his life will be held this spring in his adopted home town of Waukegan, IL.
