Massa Lois Lane Hanson

Our dear mother Lois Lane Hanson sadly passed away on October 11th 2023 three weeks before her 95th birthday. Upon her passing Lois was surrounded by loved ones and peacefully floated into the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Her Funeral Service will be held Monday, October 16, 2023 in the Highland Park Baptist Church, 6211 Murray Drive at 12:00 pm.  Interment to follow in Carolina Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends Sunday, October 15, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Northwoods Chapel.

Lois was born November 1st 1928 in the rural community of Zion in Marion County, SC to Benjamin Otha and Ruth Bryant Lane.
She was a godly woman and an exemplary moral compass for her family and all who knew her. For 75 years she was married to her sweetheart and first love, Robert J. Hanson. Together they raised four children in Charleston, SC.  Lois and Robert’s sense of adventure would take the family on numerous vacations throughout the US. Upon their retirement they continued their travels in the US and abroad.
Lois loved to teach and was a faithful Sunday school teacher and choir member. She taught kindergarten for 25 years at Remount Baptist Church.  She was an enthusiastic leader in many ministries for numerous churches in and around Charleston. She was an active member of Highland Park Baptist Church.  Smart as a whip, she loved sewing, solving crossword puzzles, and providing good meals for her family and friends.  Her favorite and most endearing holiday was Christmas.  She rarely missed her daily Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune time and wouldn’t miss her weekly dose of Lawrence Welk reruns!
Her children and grandchildren loved being at her house enjoying her wonderful cooking and playing rounds of canasta while eating her homemade oreo ice cream. Her home was an anchor, in good times or bad, for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lois is survived by her four children and spouses: Robert Wayne Hanson (Lori) of San Antonio, TX; Dolores Hanson Betsill (Bill) of Goose Creek, SC; Debbie Stafford(Ron) of Goose Creek, SC; and Cathy Honeycutt (John) of Celebration, Florida; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, JD Lane, and several nieces and nephews.  Lois was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert J. Hanson; her parents; two brothers, Cortez and Gratten (GT) Lane; sisters, Doris Barnhill Perritt, Clara Dill, Nell Yaun, and Betty Jo Cannon.
