Mary, the daughter of the late John and Irene Gelegotis, was born June 16, 1935, in Weirton, West Virginia and the family moved to Charleston in 1941. She was a graduate of Rivers High School. Mary was an active member of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity all of her life. She loved singing in the choir and dedicated many years to the Southeastern Federation of Greek Orthodox Choir and Musicians, culminating as President in 2004. In one of her final gifts of service, she and Peter joined with others to create a Theotokos Garden on the church grounds. Her enthusiasm spread to others and the garden burst into life. Gardens were not the only thing that bloomed under Mary's care and keeping, either. The joy of raising her four children and seeing them grow and flourish was made even sweeter when she became a Yiayia and had the pleasure of watching her ten grandchildren grow from babies to adults. All who were in Mary's presence learned the finer points of gracious hospitality and entertaining. "The more the merrier" was her credo and she was happiest when her house was full and she was surrounded by all those she loved. She, in turn, was loved by many and her life has inspired friends and family both to carry on her legacy of love.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Kathy Zervos Dominey (Roger), Michael W. Zervos and Elizabeth Zervos Mann (Chris); her daughters-in-law, Sallie Vee Wooten and Linda Zervos; and her sister-in-law, Angeline Zervos. Her greatest joy was her ten grandchildren: John Dominey (Sarah), Wooten Zervos (Hannah), Catherine Dominey, McNair Gregg (John), Elizabeth Michael Zervos (Bailey Dukes), Paul Dominey, Peter Zervos II, Carolyn Zervos, Mary Catherine Mann and Jasper Mann; her great-grandchilden, Elle and Will Dominey. We are eternally grateful our mother was provided exceptional companionship and care over the past two years by Emily Manigault, Doris Marzano, Dot Gelegotis, Karen Szegi-Wimpey, Marilyn Huff, Jeanette Drayton as well as the team from Lutheran Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mary's name to the Theotokos Garden, Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity, 30 Race Street, Charleston, SC 29403 or Lutheran Hospice, 1885 Rifle Range Road #46, Mt. Pleasant, S.C. 29464.
