Entered into eternal rest on the morning of January 10, 2012, Mary Alice Hackett West, widow of CDR Franklin G. West, USN (Ret). Residence, Summerville, SC, formerly of Charleston, SC. Her relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service in The Chapel at The Village at Summerville, Sunday, January 15, 2012 at 3:00 pm. Private burial services will be conducted Monday in Beaufort National Cemetery. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL.

Mrs. West was born August 11, 1915 in Meridian, MS, the daughter of Harley B. Hackett and Alice Hailey Hackett. She was a graduate of Ashley Hall and Furman University. Mary Alice was a member of Citadel Square Baptist Church and later of Crossroads Community Church in Summerville, SC. She was a teacher, mother and devoted wife.

She is survived by her sons: CAPT Franklin G. West, Jr., USN (Ret.) and his wife JoAnn of Wando, SC, Dr. Edward H. West and his wife Gwen of Summerville, SC, John B. West of Houston, TX and Allen H. West of Charleston, SC; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, CDR Franklin G. West, USN (Ret.); her brothers, John H. Hackett and Harley B. Hackett.
