Mary "Betty" Taylor, 81, of North Charleston, SC, widow of Ernest I. Taylor, died Monday, May 31, 2010, in a care facility in North Charleston. Born December 28, 1928, in Winterhaven, FL, she was one of four children of Wille Dewitt Rackley and Mary Lodge Rackley. She was a longtime member of Ferndale Baptist Church. Betty retired from Ferndale Baptist Christian Church School where she served as the Director and age five kindergarten teacher for more than 20 years. Mrs. Taylor is survived by her two sons, Al Taylor (Karen) of Wadmalaw, SC and Paul "Dewitt" Taylor (Barbara) of Givhans, SC; daughter, Tina Richardson (Terry) of Hanahan, SC; six grandchildren: Timmy, Thearon (Angel), Meredith (Jeff), Travis, Talitha (Scott) and John; ten great-grandchildren: Alexis, Lex, Seth, Christopher, Tyler, Jacob, Ireland, Brandon, Jaycie and Kenslie; and sister, Mozelle Marino. She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 60 years; son, Robert Leonard Taylor; and sisters, Catherine Rhea and Lillie Mae Brooks. The funeral service will be held in Ferndale Baptist Church, Thursday, June 3, 2010, at 1:00 PM. Interment to follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road Wednesday, June 2, 2010, between 6:00 and 8:00 PM.
