Mary Louise Gibson Swain, 86, of Charleston, SC, widow of Cecil Earl Swain, Jr. passed away Sunday, January 11, 2015. Her Funeral Service will be held Thursday, January 15, 2015 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 4:00 pm. The family will receive friends in Stuhr's Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial services will be private.

Mary was born November 9, 1928 in Columbus, North Carolina, daughter of the late John C. Gibson and the late Mary Louise McGinn. She retired as a procurement purchasing clerk with Civil Service and was a member of Ashley River Baptist Church.She is survived by three sons, John Cecil Swain (Angela) of Charleston, SC, David Gibson Swain (Jeannie) of Moncks Corner, SC, Edwin Brent Swain (Christi) of Conway, SC; two brothers, Pete Gibson of Columbus, NC, Robert "Bob" Gibson of Concord, NC; three sisters, Ruby Jones of Columbus, NC, Jetty Hutcherson of Winston Salem, NC, Betty Robbins of Rutherfordton, NC; six grandchildren, Sarah M. Swain, Amy M. Swain, Lisa B. Johnson, Morgan L. Swain, Andrew B. Swain, Madison J. Pegram and one great-grandchild, Wrenn Johnson. She is preceded in death by a brother, Charles Gibson.
