Mary Francis "Fran" Slaughter

Mary Francis "Fran" Thompkins Slaughter, 79, of Johns Island, South Carolina, wife of Gary Smith Slaughter died Tuesday, October 10, 2017. Her Funeral Service will be held Friday, October 13, 2017 in J. HENRY STUHR, MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road at 3:00 pm. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends in the chapel on Friday from 2:00 until time of the service.

Fran was born March 25, 1938 in Conway, South Carolina, daughter of the late Albert Thompkins and the late Nina McDaniel Thompkins. She retired as a salesperson in the retail industry. Mary was an avid shopper and was a member of Bethel Methodist Church on James Island. On December 23, 2017, Mary and Gary would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

She is survived by her husband, Gary S. Slaughter of Johns Island, SC; two sons, Bill Slaughter (Susan) of Daniel Island, SC and Chuck Slaughter (Joy) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; two brothers, Freddy Thompkins and Robert Thompkins, both of Conway, SC; two granddaughters, Madison Slaughter of Atlanta, GA and Olivia Slaughter of Daniel Island, SC; two grandsons, Charles Slaughter (Erica) of Lexington, SC and Thomas Slaughter (Margaret) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; and one great-grandson, Grayson Slaughter of Lexington, SC. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Wayne Thompkins.
