Mary Flowerree Rhett, 90, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Edmund Rhett, died Saturday, February 16, 2013. Her funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at St. Michael's Church at 11:00 am. Interment, churchyard. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL.
Mrs. Rhett was born September 29, 1922, in Baltimore, Maryland, daughter of Wayne Flowerree and Marion Lesesne Flowerree. She was a graduate of the Bryn Mawr School for Girls and attended Goucher College. She was a member of the Colonial Dames of SC, The Ladies Benevolent Society, and a former member of the Junior League of Charleston and the Thursday Club. Mrs. Rhett was a member of St. Michael's Church.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Edmund Rhett, Jr.(Sally) of Charleston, SC; two daughters: Marion Flowerree Rhett Walters (David) of Dallas, TX and Sally Moultrie Rhett Roberts (Richard) of Altadena, CA; eight grandchildren: Mary Flowerree Walters, Lawrence Lewis Walters (Bala Chaudhray), Sarah Hamlin Hastings (Matt), William Scott Cogswell (Lucile), Kathryn Poyas Rhett, Edmund van Braam Roberts, Richard Rhett Roberts, and Thaddeus Miles Holt; eight great-grandchildren: Mohini Fonville Walters, Raja Conway Walters, John Connor Hastings, Charles Edmund Hastings, Thomas Rhett Hastings, Henry Joseph Hastings, William Mason Cogswell, and Meade Hamlin Cogswell; and sister Sally F. Harrison of Deer Isle, Maine. She was predeceased by her daughter, Anne Cleland Rhett, and her brother, Charles Conway Flowerree.
