Mary "Merle" Lewis Priester

Mary "Merle" Lewis Priester, 94, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Clarence Earl Priester, entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 5, 2021. Her graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at 11:00 AM, in Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Road. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, Charleston, SC 29414.
Mary was born on April 2, 1926 in Waycross, Georgia, a daughter of the late James Frank Lewis and Roberta Chapman Lewis. She enjoyed gardening and working in her yard. Mary was very active in Ashley River Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and fellowshipped with her friends. She was a bookkeeper that began working at the Naval Shipyard and later at Atlantic Tire of Charleston. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, aunt, and friend to many.
She is survived by her only son, Kenneth (Kimberly) Priester, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband of many years, she was predeceased by her sisters, Lurene Hite and Bessie L Blitch; her brothers, Benny Lewis, James Lewis, Gene Lewis, Robert Lewis, Guy Lewis, Gilbert Lewis; her step-son, Wayne Priester.
