Mary Porcher Pratt-Thomas

Mary (Polly) Porcher Douglas Pratt-Thomas entered into eternal life on November 21, 2012.Friends are invited to attend her funeral service Sunday, November 25, 2012 at Three O'clock in St. Philip's Episcopal Church. Interment, Churchyard.

Polly Pratt-Thomas was born in Macon, Georgia on November 19, 1912, the daughter of Caroline Porcher Heyward and Eben Erskine Douglas. Her Husband, Harold Rawling Pratt-Thomas, M.D., and her sister, Laura Douglas Simons, predeceased her.

She is survived by her children; Dorothy Parkin Pratt-Thomas Leonard, Mary Porcher Pratt-Thomas Evans, Harold Rawling Pratt-Thomas, Jr., and Erskine Douglas Pratt-Thomas; her in-laws; William Bachman Chisolm Leonard, Lou Ann Scarborough Pratt-Thomas, and Leslie Darwin Pratt-Thomas; her niece: Caroline Simons Bonnoitt; Also surviving are her eight grandchildren; Mary Douglas Leonard Ohl (Nelson), William Bachman Chisolm Leonard, Jr., Caroline Heyward Evans Johnson (Harry), George Rawling Evans (Laura), Helen Cooper Pratt-Thomas, Harold Rawling Pratt-Thomas III, Jeffrey Douglas Pratt-Thomas, and Taylor Darwin Pratt-Thomas; and her five great grandchildren; Nelson Porter Ohl, Virginia Bailey Ohl, Dorothy Wade Leonard, Harry Locke Johnson, III, and Peter Cordes Porcher Johnson.

She was a Member Emeritus of the Junior League of Charleston; The Colonial Dames of America in The State of South Carolina; the Thursday Club, and the oldest, active member of The Charleston Library Society.

She traveled the world twice over,
Met the famous; saints and sinners,
Poets and artists, kings and queens,
Old stars and hopeful beginners,
She'd been where no-one's been before,
Learned secrets from writers and cooks
All with one library ticket
To the wonderful world of books.
