Mary Robertson Perry, 91, died peacefully on the afternoon of Thursday, April 19, at Franke at Seaside. The relatives and friends of Mrs. Perry are invited to attend her funeral services in St. Philip's Episcopal Church on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL on Saturday between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
Mrs. Perry was born November 27, 1920, in Charleston, SC, the daughter of the late Henry Clay Robertson, Sr., and Anne Hall Robertson. She was a graduate of Ashley Hall and Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA. She was a former member of the Junior League of Charleston, a Friend of the Confederate Home and College of Charleston, SC, member of the Ladies Benevolent Society of the City of Charleston, and a member of the Colonial Dames of America. She was an active member of St. Philip's Episcopal Church, serving as a volunteer in numerous capacities (altar guild, compassion committee) and as a church secretary in the 1980s. She also worked as a secretary in the Social Activities Department, and President's Office at The Citadel in the 1970s.
Mrs. Perry is survived by her two children, Mikell DeWolf Perry and his wife, Susan, of Atlanta, GA, and Anne (Nancy) Hall Perry and her beloved, Dr. Raleigh C. Powell, III, of Richmond, VA; three grandchildren, Mikell Harrison Perry and his wife, Kate, of Annapolis, Elizabeth Perry Hipp and her husband, Charles, of Greenville, SC, and Thomas Simeon Perry of Raleigh, NC; one great-granddaughter, Lila Win Hipp, born this Easter Day; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Dr. Henry C. Robertson, Jr. of Charleston, SC, and Lyman Hall Robertson of Atlanta, GA, and a sister, Anne (Nancy) Hall Robertson of Charleston, SC.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Philip's Episcopal Church or to Franke at Seaside, 1885 Rifle Range Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464.
